A few good words

"That government is best which governs least. Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one."
--------Thomas Paine

"A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have."
---------Gerald Ford

"Government is not reason; it is not eloquence; it is force! Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master."------------George Washington

"Today there are more Marxists on the Harvard faculty than there are in Eastern Europe."------------George Will

"The welfare state has always been judged by its good intentions, rather than its bad results."-----------Thomas Sowell

"We can have a free society or a welfare state. We can not have both."-----------Robert Higgs

You can get your credit report for free

With identity theft on the rise it's certainly a good idea to review your credit report periodically. Many people are not aware that they are entitled to a free credit report each year from each of the three big credit monitoring companies. Since you can get one from each of the three you might want to do what I do. I contact a different company in April, August and December and request a copy of my report. That means no report is more than four months old.
You might find the first report overwhelming but it really doesn't take all that much time to thumb through it and make sure nothing really strange jumps out. Sometimes there are items that simply have never been removed from you report and these things can be corrected fairly easily.
Here are the three companies and their toll free numbers:
Equifax (800) 685-1111
Experian (888) 397-3742
TransUnion (800) 916-8800
They usually charge a few dollars for your actual FICO score but it's worth it. Just be careful not to sign up for a monthly report which is not necessary. I'd call them vs trying to do this on line since it's easy to inadvertently sign up for some kind of monthly thing you don't really need.

An Introduction

In the beginning the world was not so crazy a place. But times have changed. The purpose of this blog is to comment on "This Crazy World."
This is not the only purpose. I also hope to provide useful information and some comedic relief from time to time.
